This concerns the total estate of Hauptmann Willi Seeger.
Consisting of various documents, photographs and his dog tag.
Willi was born on 26 September 1900 in Freiburg
He fought in World War I in the last year of the war, 1918. He served with an Artillery regiment here. Active in the Reichswehr in the early 1930s.
Started the apprenticeship of gunner in the summer of 1934.
Promoted to Leutnannt in July 1939
On 1-7-1940 promoted to Oberleutnant
On 1-1-1943 promoted to ' Hauptman'.
Received among others :
'Iron Cross 2nd class' on 9-11-1939;
'VerwundetenAbzeichen in Black;
'Kriegs Verdienst Kreuz 1st class with swords' on 20-4-1945
Involved on 1-3 September 1939 in the battle for West Prussia (Poland).
From 4-9-1939 wounded and served in a Lazarett until December 1939.
June and July 1940 Involved in invasion of France.
From 12 July 1942 to 22 March 1943 stationed in Artillery Regiment 138 in the Netherlands.
From 28-12-1942 to 22-3-1943 on the Atlantic coast (Netherlands)
From 22-3-1943 to 5 June 1944 stationed at the French Atlantic Wall.
A day before DDay, he had to leave the battlefield due to wounds.
On 20 April 1945, he received the Kriegs Verdienst Kreuz 1st class with swords.
Willi survived the war and was honorably discharged after spending some time in captivity.
