Photo album of the Luftwaffe ''Transportgeschwader 5'' stationed in the Netherlands and Belgium, among other places, with rare photographs of the ME 323!

€325.00

This photo album contains 176 photographs and is complete.
The album has a classic leather cover with a metal steel helmet and inscription.

It shows that this Luftwaffe unit (the eventual “Transportgeschwader 5”) was trained in the Posen region and left in 1941 for a stay in the south of the Netherlands. After this, they stayed in Belgium, where photos can be seen of Antwerp, Dinant and Brussels, among other places. The album also contains a number of photographs of Italy near Naples. The last photographs are from 1944 on the Eastern Front. Of particular note are the very special photographs of the Messerschmitt ME 323 in the album, which are rare and hard to find.

Transportgeschwader 5 consisted of a Stab (staff group) and three Gruppen: I., II., III. Gruppe.
This group used the Messerschmitt Me 323 “Gigant” (heavy transport aircraft), which was an important aircraft for TG 5.
TG 5 carried out transport missions on the Eastern Front (‘Deutsch-Sowjetischer Krieg’) and also in North Africa (Tunisia).

TG 5 was disbanded/merged/reorganised in July 1944.
