Item number: 345L

This album belonged to a soldier who received his training for deployment to the Eastern Front at the Cavalry Training Centre in Paderborn. Several photos of this training are included at the beginning of the album. He was then deployed to the Eastern Front, where he probably served in an Ersatz Battalion/infantry unit.

The photographs included in the album show the period from 1941 to 1943, during which fierce battles were fought in winter conditions. This album provides a very unique insight into the circumstances of that time.

Some of the most important topics covered in this album, which can be summarised as follows, are:

*  training period in Paderborn;
*  fighting on the Eastern Front, often in winter conditions;
*  ceremony for the burial of comrades;
*  ceremony of awarding the Knight's Cross with various photos;
*  on one photo, a soldier wearing the German Cross in Gold can also be seen;
*  various photos with tanks and armoured vehicles;
*  prisoners of war;
*  local population.

The photo album is complete, in very good condition and contains a total of 127 photographs.

A unique album!
