Extremely Rare WWII Photo Estate – Waffen-SS “Das Reich” Rottenführer

€450.00

Offered here is an exceptionally rare and historically significant WWII photo estate consisting of 11 original photographs related to a later SS-Rottenführer who served with the Waffen-SS Division “Das Reich.”

The collection includes nine photographs in which the soldier himself is clearly visible, providing an unusually personal and well-documented glimpse into the life of a Waffen-SS serviceman late in the war. The images were taken in 1944, during the final phase of the conflict.

Several photographs show his stationing in France, alongside private, informal moments with his wife or fiancée—scenes that are seldom preserved in surviving SS-related material. Of particular importance are highly uncommon images depicting him wearing an SS camouflage smock (Tarnung / camo-smock uniform), a field garment that is rarely documented in such personal photographic contexts.

The group also contains two studio portraits of the same individual:

  • One large-format studio portrait, and

  • One smaller-format studio portrait,
both offering clear, formal representations suitable for advanced research or archival collections.

Additionally, one photograph (not showing the main individual) depicts a member of an SS-Gebirgsjäger division, possibly taken during a joint encounter or meeting, adding further contextual depth to the group.

Taken as a whole, this photo estate represents an extremely rare and compelling collection, combining late-war Waffen-SS imagery, personal life documentation, studio portraiture, and uncommon uniform details. Due to the subject matter, time period, and quality of the images, this group is of exceptional interest to serious WWII historians, advanced collectors, and specialized archives.
