Merit Cross for War Aid (German: Verdienstkreuz für Kriegshilfe)

€35.00
Item number: 354

This medal is in a very fine collector’s condition and has an attractive design.
As it is mounted on an ‘Einzelspange’, it is a less common variant than the standard version.

The Merit Cross for War Aid (Verdienstkreuz für Kriegshilfe) was established on 5 December 1916 by Prussia (Emperor Wilhelm II).
It served as a decoration for both military and civilian personnel who rendered meritorious service in support of the war effort (not necessarily through frontline service), regardless of rank or status.
