Propaganda card bearing a stamp and handwriting from an ‘Ortsfrauenschaftsleiterin’ ( NSF)

This postcard was handwritten by an Ortsgruppe / Ortsfrauenschaftsleiterin and dated 18 March 1942.

The stamp is from the leadership of this group, which was based in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).

The text ‘Nimmer wird das Reich zerstört, wenn ihr einig seid und treu’ is not a random personal motto: it is known as a line from a poem by Max von Schenkendorf and was later frequently used in nationalist and National Socialist propaganda.

The National Socialist Women’s League (NSF) was the official women’s organisation of the NSDAP and was founded in 1931. Membership of the NSF was voluntary but strongly encouraged, and many women felt pressure to join in order to demonstrate their loyalty to the regime. By 1938, the NSF had over 2 million members.
